Beyond that, in the various communities I work with, my main tool is my writing. I write to engage, challenge, provoke and make an impact.
In my two books “The Book of Standing Out” and “Still Standing Out”, I tell stories designed to spark, to inspire, and sometimes to unsettle freelance translators.
And in the Translation Postcards series for ProZ.com, I work with translators around the world to bring their stories and their settings to life, drawing on years of experience as a feature-writing journalist.
Having given conference talks and workshops from Chicago to Jerusalem and from London to Porto, I also love to be on my feet, telling stories to live audiences. Often without notes, just connecting with my listeners.
